Itacaré is a town on the coast of Bahia, 70 km from Ilhéus. It was an old fishermen’s' town, and for many years was a pearl hidden in the middle of the Rain Forest. Nowadays, with easy access via the BA-001 highway, Itacaré has found its true vocation: tourism.
For example, it can boast a privileged location, set in the estuary of the River Contas (Rio de Contas), surrounded by huge areas of Rain Forest and acres of untouched beaches. Add to this the waterfalls, the fauna and flora, the typically charming historic town center, and the friendliness of the native “Baianos” - and you will have Itacaré, the latest Brazilian tourism discovery.
